Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya stands as a beacon of women’s education and empowerment in North India. Founded in 1927 in Lahore by Mahatma Hans Raj Ji, a staunch advocate of the DAV Movement, the institution has, over its 98-year history, evolved into a premier college committed to delivering value-based, employment-oriented education to women. After the partition in 1948, the institution was relocated to Jalandhar, where it continued its mission of empowering women through education. The core block, inaugurated by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, then Vice President of India, in 1959, marks a significant milestone in its illustrious journey.

Today, HMV is a leading institution within the DAV College Managing Committee, guided by the visionary leadership of Padma Shree Awardee, Dr. Punam Suri, President, DAVCMC, New Delhi. HMV’s commitment to academic excellence has earned it an unparalleled reputation. It holds the unique distinction of receiving an 'A++' grade with a score of 3.65 in the third cycle of NAAC reaccreditation, reflecting its unwavering dedication to quality education. HMV has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a "College of Excellence."
