Swami Dayanand Library Profile

The library of HMV was established in 1948 when this esteemed institute shifted from Lahore. It is set up in a beautiful air conditioned building surrounded by nature’s bounty. It is a fully computerized library following Alice for Window software. This Library has got membership with DELNET & INFLIBNET and it provides access to WEB OPAC for its readers who can access these facilities on their personal computers/mobile with internet from anywhere in the world. The library consists of 1,05,689 books on various subjects. Book Bank facility is available for its readers. It subscribes to 112 Journals & Magazines and 22 newspapers. The Library has also collection of brail books and talking books for students with special facilities. It has a separate computer section with 22 computers with internet facility to explore e-resources.

Our Library has not only a huge collection of books but an amalgamation of knowledge culture and advancement. This fully equipped library also maintains a ‘PEACE ZONE’ with four Vedas and other Holy Books.

The college library is accessible to students 9:00 AM-5:00 PM to enable the hostellers and day scholars to get benefits of the same.

INFLIBNET

SWAMI DAYANAND LIBRARY is a member of INFLIBNET. It helps readers to access 6000+ e-journals and 01, 99,500+ e-books on N-list by INFLIBNET.

DELNET

SWAMI DAYANAND LIBRRAY is a member of DELNET (developing Library Network). The DELNET facility helps the faculty and researchers to procure those books, articles and documents from other educational institutions through DELNET which are not available in our Library.

COMPUTER SECTION

The Library has its own computer section. All library operations such as housekeeping, bibliographical details of all books are carried out in the computer section. All the books and journals have been bar coded to provide easy access and retrieval. The circulation work is fully computerized.

OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)

The library provides OPAC facility with its link available on the college website. Readers can access WEB OPAC for on their personal computers/mobiles with internet from anywhere in the world to search books and reserve them.

SERVICES/SUPPORT FACILITIES

The N-List Being jointly executed by: e-ShodhSindhu Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and INDEST-AICTE Consortium. The N-LIST project provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at the INFLIBNET Centre.

The authorized users from colleges can now access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher's website once they are duly authenticated as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre.

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time.

NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

e-PG Pathshala is an initiative of the MHRD under its National Mission on Education through ICT (NME-ICT) being executed by the UGC. The content and its quality being the key component of education system, high quality, curriculum-based, interactive e-content in 70 subjects across all disciplines of social sciences, arts, fine arts and humanities, natural & mathematical sciences, linguistics and languages have been developed by the subject experts working in Indian universities and other R & D institutes across the country.

Every subject had a team of principal investigator, paper coordinators, content writers, content reviewers, Language editors and multimedia team.

This online service offers easy access to the NCERT textbooks. The service covers textbooks of all subjects published by NCERT for classes I to XII in Hindi, English and Urdu. The Entire book or individual chapters can be downloaded provided the terms of use as mentioned in the Copyright Notice is adhered to.

ARPIT The MHRD has launched online ARPIT on 13th November, 2018, a major and unique initiative of online professional development of 15 lakhs higher education faculty using the MOOCs platform SWAYAM. In the first instance NTA conducted ARPIT Test on 30th March 2019 in 66 disciplines.

Currently, 48 discipline-specific National Resource Centres (NRCs) have been identified by MHRD, wherein Course Coordinators have prepared online training material, with focus on latest developments in the discipline. ARPIT is going to be an ongoing exercise, so that every year NRCs will continuously develop new refresher module in their earmarked discipline each year and the training material will be uploaded and made available through SWAYAM.

SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspirant Minds) : is a platform that facilitates hosting of all the courses, taught in classrooms from Class 9 till post-graduation to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time. All the courses are interactive, prepared by the best teachers in the country and are available, free of cost to any learner. More than 1,000 specially chosen faculty and teachers from across the country have participated in preparing these courses. The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants:

  • video lecture,
  • specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed
  • self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes and
  • an online discussion forum for clearing the doubts.

VIDWAN is the premier database of profiles of scientists / researchers and other faculty members working at leading academic institutions and other R & D organisation involved in teaching and research in India. It provides important information about expert's background, contact address, experience, scholarly publications, skills and accomplishments, researcher identity, etc.

The database developed and maintained by Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) with financial support from the National Mission on Education through ICT (NME-ICT). The database would be instrumental in selection of panels of experts for various committees, taskforce, established by the Ministries / Govt. establishments for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Shodh-Chakra is an initiative of INFLIBNET Centre under the guidance of UGC to help the academic community during their research life cycle. Shodh-Chakra provides a unique space to the researcher, guide/supervisor and university to manage the research lifecycle of a research scholar. The portal is integrated with millions of resources (including full-text theses) along with the helping tools for the researchers which are required during the research work.

  • Show the books and other material which are being taken out of the library to the staff at the entrance counter.
  • Keep books, periodicals &news papers at proper place after use.
  • No discussion permitted inside the library.
  • Enter your name and sign in the entry register kept at the entrance counter before entering library.
  • The librarian may recall of any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same book immediately
  • Library borrower cards are not transferable the borrower is responsible for the books borrowed on his/her card.
  • Refreshment of any kind shall not be taken anywhere in the library premises.
