catappa, T. chebula, T. cuneata, T. elliptica are the medicinally important species collected
from the study area. (Table 2)
3. Phytogeographical affinity:
The flora of Combretaceae members of the study region show strong affinity with South
Asia, South East Asia, Tropical America and Tropical Africa. Out of the 13 species recorded
from the study area, 3 species are of indigenous origin (Table. 3).
4. Endemism:
Out of the 12 species in the study area, 3 are endemic to India shows that 25% of endemism,
which highlights the importance of the study. Quisqualis malabarica Bedd., Terminalia
paniculata Roth., T. travencorensis Wight ex Arn. are the endemic species collected from the
study area (Table 4).
