cylindrical, Melanocenchris jacquemonlii and Sateria gluaca are the least frequently
occurring species with 4% frequency. The highest IVI (31.49) has been recorded of
Dichanthium annulatum and the lowest IVI (3.49) in Dactyloctenium aegyptum (see fig 1).
Diversity index of grass species
Richness or diversity of grass species has been indicated by Shannon diversity index
'
(H) with a value of 3.201, whereas Simpson index (D) value is 0.938. The higher evenness of
grass species has been computed a value of 0.428 which indicates high variation in
abundances between different taxa within the community. Value of standard deviation (SD)
(55.281) clearly shows the higher dispersion of the grass species (see table 2).
