               ABSTRACT
Environment conservation helps in preserving and protecting our ecosystem and aims at air

purification, soil maintenance, climate regulation, nutrient recycling and maintaining
ecological balance amongst various species present on the earth. The whole world has come

under the claws of Coronavirus since 2019 and even after passing of considerable time period

it is difficult to estimate when coronavirus will end. The onset of coronavirus although has
given opportunity to the Mother Nature to heal itself but it has also brought with itself various

environment hazards such as increase in biomedical waste. Lockdown and curfews were
imposed in various parts of the world to curb the increase in coronavirus patients which has

directly impacted the biodiversity and our environment. The present paper is an attempt to
bring an overview of the impact of COVID-19 on biodiversity and Environment

conservation. The increasing population has rapidly led to decrease in the forest area which

has directly impacted the ecological balance. But various studies on environment during the
era of COVID-19 pandemic have shown a positive as well as negative impact of lockdowns

               on environment.

               1. INTRODUCTION
Amongst the eight planets of our solar system, life exists only on our planet Earth. Initially

there was no life on earth but due to the balance of various components of our environment
like hydrosphere, atmosphere and lithosphere there is existence of life on Earth. Amongst all

the organisms that survive on the Earth, human beings for fulfilling his greed, needs and

wants has disturbed the ecological balance of the environment. As a result there has been a
rapid deterioration of our environment in the name of development. Various problems like

deforestation, rise in population, ozone layer depletion, global warming, pollution,
